Off the beaten track in Mexico

First, an apology to those on the email list. There were some snags with a new
email system at Texas InfiNet, so the latter part of this message was sent to
ELAN, INFOTERRA and rec.travel before you folks. The latest issue of Planeta is
the best yet, and I hope you can visit the website. Meanwhile, here's the Ron
gossip/chisme:

1) I am finishing the two environmental travel guidebooks and once the drafts
are complete, I'm leaving Miami. Destination: Mexico City as a base for at
least nine months, maybe two years. For now, I desperately need some time to
rest and edit the manuscripts.

As of April 1, 1997 - please update my address to

Ron Mader
Rep. de Cuba 12
Col. Centro Historico
Del. Cuahtemoc
06010 Mexico, DF Mexico
(525) 521-1018

Personally, I'd ask that you keep the address confidential. Also, email is more
reliable than the Mexico City post. My email continues to be ron@txinfinet.com
and the Eco Travels website remains online at http://www.planeta.com/.

2) The website is exceeding expectations. Last week the site received 1,500
hits a day - the most ever. I was honored to be the site of the month from the
Minnesota Research Center of the Americas and one of the top 500 websites
according to PC Home magazine.

3) If you are going to subscribe or purchase a banner on the website, DO NOT
SEND MONEY to this address. Request info and I'll send you my Austin bank
account and address.

4) Writers Guidelines
If you'd like to contribute an article, request the writer's guidelines or
visit
http://www.txinfinet.com/mader/ecotravel/search/guide.html

5) If you'd like to take a peak and make suggestions, the DRAFT of Mexico: A
Natural Destination is online the CSF gopher

El_Planeta_Platica/MexDest

6) Networking: Have an ecotourism job? Looking for employment? Doing research?
Look at
www.txinfinet.com/mader/ecotravel/search/search.html Follow the examples and
submit a short quiery with the subject line "Online Search"

7) Upcoming Ecotourism Conferences:

Join the International Ecotourism Conference online beginning March 3, 1997.
The Internet forum is free and open to the public. Log on and register at
http://www.cybercorp.net/~ecotourism/

And if you're in Colombia this April, check into the Cartagena Conference on
Tourism
