New Award Will Honor Excellence in Ecotourism
**Please excuse cross postings**
**Please Distribute**
Conservation International (CI), a global leader in biodiversity
conservation, is accepting nominations for the first annual CI Ecotourism
Excellence Award. The award will honor both a company and an individual in
the tourism industry who have made a significant contribution to
biodiversity conservation, and whose actions can serve as a role model for
others.
We need your help! Please assist us in identifying any outstanding
ecotourism innovators that you feel are deserving of this honor!
Nominations are being accepted for two categories: Company and Individual.
Those working in all geographic regions are invited to apply, however
special consideration will be given to those working within the global
biodiversity hotspots and wilderness areas, which are located primarily in
the tropics. The nominees will be evaluated by a panel, considering their
commitment to conservation, environmental impact of their project,
leadership, vision and innovation, and sensitivity to local environmental
and cultural issues. Among other benefits, Award winners will be featured
in a publication, and flown to Toronto, Canada to be honored at an award
ceremony at the Travel & Leisure Show, North America's leading travel trade
show.
To find out all the details about Eligibility, Benefits, and the Application
Procedure AND to make nominations, please either visit our website, CI's
Ecotravel Center (www.ecotour.org), e-mail m.mcconnel@conservation.org, or
call 202-331-3431.
Thank you very much for your assistance--together we will inspire others to
strive to achieve conservation through tourism!
Sincerely,
The Ecotourism Team at Conservation International
