Dear Colleagues:

The following request was put to me by Gonthong Thanabodee, a very
courageous young Thai woman who is Director of the Chao Phraya barge Program
- an experiential environmental education program on the Chao Phraya River
in Thailand. Gon and her teachers take groups of up to 20 (from grade 3 to
adult) on 1 - 5 day journeys on the river aboard a renovated rice barge
teaching water testing techniques, cultural history, Thais' traditional
relationship to their 'Mother' river, working with artisans and village
groups along the river, and assessing a rookery of Asian Open Billed Storks.
They also work on leadership and how to transfer lessons learned from the
program back to the community.
She is half way to being able to attend the NAAEE Conference in Atlanta in
September, but needs some help with airfare and accommodations. Any
assistance you could give her would be much appreciated (encouragement is of
great value as well!).
Please Contact her at the coordinates below.
