Ecotourism's roots lie in scientific tourism - the biological field stations in
Costa Rica, the botanical gardens throughout the hemisphere and an increasing
number of tours that show off the flora of the Americas.

this is the final year for El Planeta Platica, as the website takes on new
directions in 1999. The final two issues of Planeta will focus on the following
topics: Building the Perfect Path, Storytelling, Exploring Ecuador and Peru.
